Copper metal has high industrial application value. The scrap copper generated in industrial production can be recycled and regenerated. The scrap copper recycling process mainly includes the following four links: appointment recycling, sorting, impurity removal, and recasting:
1. Appointment recycling
The seller contacts the scrap copper recycling company, and the buyer and seller communicate to confirm the type, quantity, appointment address, time and other related matters of the scrap copper. After the recycling company arrives, the scrap copper is packaged and weighed, and the price is negotiated and settled on the spot. The whole process is open and transparent.
2. Sorting
Different types of scrap copper are treated differently. After the scrap copper is recycled, the recycling company will sort it according to the category of scrap copper to maximize its value.
3. Impurity removal
Non-polluted scrap copper or copper alloys with the same composition can be directly recycled and reused, while severely polluted scrap copper needs to be refined to remove impurities, which is divided into two steps.
Step 1: Dry and burn the scrap copper raw materials to remove surface moisture and combustibles such as engine oil and grease.
Step 2: Place the raw materials processed in the first step into the furnace, and remove the metal impurities in the slag through high-temperature smelting.
4. Recasting
After the impurity removal treatment, the purity of copper in the scrap copper is already very high. At this time, it can be melted and recast, processed into copper products of various shapes, and the scrap copper is regenerated.
So, what are the common types of scrap copper?
According to the different stages of production, scrap copper is divided into three categories: primary scrap copper, new scrap copper, and old scrap copper.
Primary scrap copper: Primary scrap copper refers to the anode, cathode, billet and anode waste produced in industrial production. These scrap coppers cannot be further processed and sold.
New scrap copper: New scrap copper refers to scrap copper or new scraps produced during factory processing. The difference from primary scrap copper is that they have been alloyed or covered and contain more impurities.
Old scrap copper: Old scrap copper refers to scrap copper generated outside the production enterprise or copper-containing materials that have been used and discarded. These scrap coppers are scattered in various places. Because of their low copper content, they are relatively difficult to handle, such as discarded cables, wires, copper-containing parts, etc. Old scrap copper is a huge potential resource for recycling.
